Breastfeeding Support:
Breastfeeding support may include suggestions for improving positioning and latch and reducing pain, increasing milk intake by the baby, and referrals to lactation consultants when appropriate.
Most women find establishing breastfeeding to be somewhat challenging, and it can take up to 6-8 weeks to be a confident and successful nursing pair. This isn’t intended to discourage women from breastfeeding, but to help them be aware that it takes time and that it is worth working through the challenges. Having experienced and educated support can help keep mothers from feeling dispirited and discouraged while Mom and baby are figuring things out.
