Insurance Questions

Here is the current status:

Most FSA & HSA funds will cover therapeutic massage. Please check with your plan administrator. We accept payments from these accounts.  You will receive a receipt for services to submit to your administrator.  You can also ask your plan administrator about labor doula support and postpartum doula support.

Cradling Arms LLC accepts insurance.   To best serve you, your benefits should be verified prior to your first appointment.  Please click on the link below and complete the insurance verification online form.  You'll be contacted as soon as benefits are established.  We will go over all the financials with you so you know exactly what to expect.

MASSAGE THERAPY:

While some states recognize clinical massage therapists as credentialed in-network providers, the state of Virginia currently does not.  The best we can do at this time is register with the 3 insurance companies that will allow us to process claims as out-of-network providers.  These insurers are Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and United Healthcare  Please note that insurance companies will not cover "prenatal massage."  They will cover pain-related, function-related issues such as the low back/pelvic dysfunction issues and neck and shoulder and back pain.  Other pain and injury-related issues they might cover as well.   A script for services from your care provider is required in order for the insurance companies to pay out-of-network claims.

Your OB, midwife, primary care, or chiropractor can provide this.  If you are receiving oncology massage, the script will need to come from your oncologist.  There is a separate fee structure for medical massage therapy.

VETERANS ADMINISTRATION (VA) CLIENTS

Cradling Arms LLC can now accept VA members.  A referral is required.

DOULA SUPPORT SERVICES:

At this time, even though Virginia Medicaid has started reimbursing some birth doulas, no other insurance company in Virginia is doing so.  While Cradling Arms LLC accepts Medicaid patients, it is currently not covered under this program.  We hope to be covered in the next year or so.

MEDICAID

We are currently not a Medicaid provider.  We are working towards becoming one over the next several months.  Currently, our labor doula fees are below the allowed Medicaid reimbursement. For that reason, there is no additional discounting.
